Duke is always afraid his dad makes it out the door without him so he took that as his guard post at the front door and literally sleeps on his back there. He adapted quickly and became his dad’s true therapy dog. After his dad was hospitalized and returned home after a week in March, he made it a point to sleep beside him so he’ll know his dad won’t be gone for a week again.
He is also Daisy’s mentor and has taught her the tricks of the trade. He loves any type of ball (most especially Football) or Frisbee. He also plays tennis. When his dad releases a tennis ball up to 60 feet from his launcher, Duke never allows the ball to hit the ground. He also loves doing perimeter checks on the 8 acres of mowed lawn by his dad. When his dad went planting tomatoes, he waited lying on dirt. He just loves being up close and personal with his dad. Duke also marks his territory inside and outside the hen post while his dad leaves the door open. This behavior ensures no raccoons get to the chicken and his dad never loses any chickens unlike his neighbors.
